October 2024, Cebu, Philippines— Zotus Group International UK, a visionary leader in transformative
infrastructure development, has officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with First
Sangat “SF” International Port Corp. to jointly develop a state-of-the-art seaport with a reclamation
component in Barangay Sangat, San Fernando, Cebu, Philippines.

This landmark project marks a significant step towards enhancing economic growth and connectivity
in the Visayas region, solidifying Cebu’s strategic role as a gateway for trade and commerce.

Advancing Economic Growth and Infrastructure in Cebu
The proposed Sangat Port will bolster Cebu’s infrastructure by providing a modern facility capable of
accommodating larger vessels, including those exceeding 15,000 gross tonnage. This development
aims to alleviate congestion at Cebu International Port (CIP) and ensure Cebu remains competitive in
the growing regional and global trade markets.

Local Impact and Community Benefits
The development aims to uplift the socio-economic conditions in the San Fernando area through:-

  • Job Creation and Economic Upliftment: The port is expected to generate numerous employment
opportunities for local residents, helping families to rise above poverty levels. A priority will be given
to locals for positions at the port, and additional livelihood programs will be provided.
  • Enhanced Infrastructure: Investments will extend to improve local infrastructure, including
barangay roads, water supply, drainage systems, and the construction of essential facilities like a
mini-hospital, fire station, and recreational spaces.
  • Supporting the Fishing Community: Local fishermen will receive new fishing equipment and boats,
while a dedicated fish port will be established for their use, ensuring the community’s traditional
    livelihood is supported.
  • Environmental and Ecological Initiatives: In collaboration with local and national environmental
efforts, the project includes plans for a mini forest park, reforestation, and a marine pollution office
in line with international conventions to protect and sustain marine ecosystems.

A New Trade Gateway for Central Visayas and Beyond

The Municipality of San Fernando has long been recognized as a pioneer in industrial development,
harmonizing large-scale private and public sector initiatives alongside vibrant small-scale
enterprises.

The strategic location of the Sangat Port will position Cebu as a preferred hub for trade, allowing
direct routes to key markets in Asia, Europe, and the United States. This enhanced connectivity will
not only facilitate larger cargo and container vessels but also accommodate cruise ships and car
carriers, making Cebu a competitive trade and tourism destination.

Emile Heskey, Ambassador of Zotus Group, emphasized the significance of this partnership, stating,
“This project embodies our commitment to transformative infrastructure that benefits local
communities and fosters sustainable growth. We are proud to work alongside First Sangat and the
Cebu authorities to realize this ambitious vision for Sangat, Cebu, and the entire Visayas region.”

The collaboration with First Sangat “SF” International Port Corp signifies Zotus Group’s continued
dedication to making a lasting impact on communities worldwide. This project underscores the
shared vision of bringing world-class infrastructure to the Philippines while prioritizing local
development and ecological preservation.
